Hi Sam,

I just dropped version 1 on a 2008 R2 testserver with SQL 2008 R2 installed (its my ConfigMgr 2012 testmachine), following the installation guide (http://mdtwebfrontend.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Add%20FrontEnd%20IIS7) and got a working web page withing minutes.

A couple things to check:

- Is the App Pool running in integrated mode ?

- Is the App Pool configured to use .Net 2

- Is the App Pool configured with an account that has appropriate permission to access the files?

- What IIS Role Services are installed?  (Required are ASP.Net plus all it dependencies, Static Content (sometimes missing in the default configuration) Windows authentication and http redirection)

Regarding your question about the path. Yes, the URL doesn't point to a file path directly. It points to different controllers and their actions which then return the appropriate view(s) to show.

If you are just testing the frontend, I highly encourage you to think about testing Version 2. Its the next release I've been working on for quite some time now. The first beta versions have been published already. It's not finished yet and will probably stay at Beta for the next few months, but I'm getting updated versions published in quite short cycles, so if there are any issues, I will fix them quickly plus adding new features that are still missing. Find the download at http://mdtwebfrontend.codeplex.com/releases/view/86208. This version comes with a lot of improvements, especially on the problems you mentioned. It drops the necessity for additional SQL server dlls and just uses the .Net Framework 4 built-in functions. It has some extensive logging integrated that helps to identify errors and problems. etc.

Regards

Maik
